Steve Kornacki shares that his mother, Anne, has passed away. Read his touching tribute


NBC News’ Steve Kornacki announced that his mother, Anne B. (Ramonas) Kornacki, has died. She was 77 years old.

He shared the news about his mother Instagram On September 15, writing a touching tribute to her.

The political correspondent uploaded a childhood photo of him sitting on his mother’s lap while drinking from a soda can. The two smiled widely for the adorable photo.

“I found this photo and gave it to my mom for her birthday a few years ago,” he began in the caption. “I look at her in it and I see love and care and happiness (and probably a little worried that I spilled the soda). And that’s what I’ve felt from her all my life.”

He continued: “I lost her on Friday. I’m so lucky that she got to see so much of my life, even though it’s never enough time.

At the end of her post, she added: “No offense to anyone out there, but my mom was the best mom.”

On September 17, he shared a screenshot of his mother’s obituary from Casey Funerals. on X.

“Anne B. (Ramonas) Kornacki, 1947-2024,” he wrote simply in a tweet on September 17.

U necrology described Anne B. (Ramonas) Kornacki as a native of Waterbury, Conn., and a “devoted wife, mother, grandmother and sister.”

According to the obit, Anne B. (Ramonas) Kornacki, died “unexpectedly” on Friday, September 13 at Midcoast Hospital in Brunswick, Maine, surrounded by her family.

She married Stephan J. Kornacki in 1973 and they have been together for over 50 years. The couple welcomed two children, Steve Kornacki and Katie Kornacki, and later opened a bed and breakfast.

“After selling the bed and breakfast, she and Steve moved to Brunswick, ME where they continued to open their home to friends and family from near and far,” the obituary read.

“Among family and friends, his hospitality was legendary,” the obituary continued. “A more recent point in her life was the birth of her granddaughter three years ago; she eagerly embraced being a grandmother and found great joy in this role.”

Anne B. (Ramonas) Kornacki is survived by her husband, son, daughter, granddaughter, son Brian Duffy and her three siblings.

His funeral will be held on Friday, September 20.
